Begin Disassembly

I got the truck into my garage and the next question was where to start. Since I had decided not to do a entirely authentic restoration but rather a thorough rebuild I started with the removal of the front end body parts. I was able to remove many of the bolts with WD-40 and and wrench but others had to be removed with a sawzall and some just broke off when a wrench was put to them. Considering he truck hadn't been licensed for over 25 years and had been sitting in a grove of trees many of the bolts came off without much difficulty. This was a good sign that the Minnesota salts hadn't completely taken their toll. I pulled off the front fenders and inner fenders and the grill. The grill is probably fixable but the lower front fenders below the grill are in pretty bad shape and may need to be replaced. Remember to have your digital camera handy at all times and take plenty of pictures during disassembly. You would be surprised what detail you may be looking for later and you will find it in a picture. Nothing is too trivial. I took a lot of close ups but failed to step back and take many full view shots. Also by now every small part is going into a ziplock bag with a label.
